Andrew Patel

Andrew Patel is an artificial intelligence researcher, context engineer, public speaker, blogger, and creative writer. He authored “Creatively Malicious Prompt Engineering”, a study of the application of generative AI in disinformation and influence operations that was referenced by the BBC and Europol. He has authored bylines and op-eds published on The Hill and HelpNet and has been featured in several Reuters TV interviews. He has also published two science fiction novels.

Andrew’s prior AI research includes studies of meta embedding clusteringmulti-agent reinforcement learningcombining policy training with genetic evolutiongraph simulations and analysis, and studies into poisoning of collaborative filtering mechanisms. He also extensively studied disinformation mechanisms on social networks, and built a set of capture and analysis tools that were adopted by other prominent disinformation research agencies, including The Atlantic Council. He also actively participated in the EU Horizon project, SHERPA, which was focused on ethical considerations of AI. More recently, Andrew delivered a keynote on potential uses of generative AI in fraud and influence operations, and a three-part course on prompt engineering to a leading US technology company in Silicon Valley. He also wrote a published a science fiction novel.

Andrew has spent many years studying political disinformation, influence operations, and brand attacks. He is now applying this prior expertise, along with his understanding of prompt engineering to understand how generative AI might be used to conduct the fraud and influence operations of the future.

Andrew is the author and designer of this site. His speciality lies in combining deep technical expertise with a fluent ability to communicate. And he loves using AI and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems, study interesting phenomena, and to create stunning visuals.

Andy would very much like to employ his skillset and share his expertise in an expert or creative role at a forward thinking company. Examples of contributions he could make include studies of real-world or artificial phenomena, analysis of complex datasets and simulations, dissection of techniques used in fraud, influence, brand reputation attacks, and disinformation, the creation of lore, narrative, and visual elements for marketing campaigns or video games, and as a cyber security veteran, forward thinker, and technologist.

Andrew can be found on Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Github. If you’d like to contact him, do so via LinkedIn.
